The Showings | Contemporary Art Center Gallery | UCI

Horror is the allure and frisson of the forbidden, and what is more forbidden than a body? The Showings is a sculptural procession of works of amalgamated ceramic, steel, copper, and resin that compound to generate a cultural body in various stages of protection and metamorphosis. Within this material drama, monstrosity and corporeal dread are effects, residue, aftermath.

After Many Sunsets | The Room Gallery | UCI

Liz Stringer uses meditative drawing to navigate private and egotistical moments of self, looping into an existential narrative of horror. Repetitive and residual layers of meaning compound to articulate bodies in stages of failure. The works highlight a variety of physical properties using aggregate actions to enact these moments of

the poetic.
